AI Website Safety Checks Are Becoming a New Service Category

Services can help operators who publish AI-built websites with pre-launch checks, monthly reviews, handover inspections, and incident response.

The gaps left after rapid building

AI building tools can create apps quickly from natural-language prompts. But a working screen does not mean that secret connection details for payment providers or storage services, and administrator privileges, have been safely separated.

In February 2026, security company Wiz reported that the AI-built social service Moltbook exposed about 4.75 million records, 1.5 million authentication credentials, and 35,000 email addresses. It said publicly available connection details embedded in web pages, combined with incorrectly configured data-access rules, allowed people who were not logged in to read or change data.

The important point is that visible connection details in a web page do not automatically mean there has been an incident. Services such as Supabase provide public details intended for browser use. The real risk is when a secret that should exist only on the server is exposed, or when public details open access to important data.

Cyble said that it reviewed more than 1.3 million newly registered web addresses in October 2026, identified 22,306 AI-built sites, and found secrets that should have remained on servers on 35 of them. The exposed details included connections to payments, AI usage billing, and data storage. This was a result of the security company's own classification and inspection method, so it should not be treated as a rate for all websites.

In 2026, the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT are operating attack surface management support that checks externally exposed assets. Public support and existing tools can handle basic risk discovery. A new service needs to solve what changes after discovery and when to check again if it is to earn payment.

The person with the new budget is the site operator

Consider the operations manager at a meal-subscription business with 12 employees. There is no dedicated security person. The operations manager is responsible for the order-site launch date, payment success rates, text-message delivery, and customer questions.

This manager builds an ordering screen with an AI building tool, then sets up connection details for a payment provider, text-message provider, and data storage service. They copy the same values from provider dashboards into the building tool, deployment settings, and handover notes. It is hard to know which values can safely be public.

It is also easy to assume that a complicated administrator URL is enough. In practice, someone needs to check separately whether it is open to the public internet, whether there is an extra identity check beyond a password, and whether an ordinary customer account can reach administrator functions.

This article assumes that the buyer is an operations manager or the owner of a web-production agency. The assumption is that they care more about whether they can launch on schedule, whether payments could stop, and whether they can keep operating after ending a relationship with an external provider than about complex risk scores.

The first result should therefore be an action category, not a long report: “ready to launch now,” “launch after changing this item,” or “stop using immediately.” A single screen showing the location of a finding, the person who must make the change, the due date, and the recheck result for payments, messaging, and storage is closer to the buyer’s actual work.

Automation can check for traces of server-only secrets in web pages, whether an administrator login screen is externally accessible, and whether old test addresses remain online. Checking whether public connection details have appropriate permissions requires the owner’s permission and read access to the relevant dashboard. A service must not test another company’s site without permission.

Some work clearly remains human work. The operator and relevant specialists must revoke exposed details and issue new ones, review records of who accessed data, and decide whether customers need to be notified. What should be sold, then, is not a one-time scan but a process that completes “find, replace, assess impact, and recheck.”

Abroad, building and checking are being bundled

US-based Replit has added secret scanning and security review to its natural-language app-building service. It began by guiding users to move connection details pasted into code into separate storage. It has since expanded into security features that review code before publication and components already in use.

Its basic paid plan with annual billing starts at about KRW 24,000 per month, and checking features are included in the building and publishing environment. Replit says it aims to complete focused checks for large projects within 15 minutes and full reviews within one hour, and that it reduced the rate of flagging non-issues by 90%. These are supplier-reported figures.

US-based GitHub finds secret connection details in online code repositories. Public-code scanning is free. Its prevention scope has expanded by blocking uploads when it finds a problem before new code is uploaded.

GitHub said it found more than 39 million secret exposures in 2024. Because GitHub detects and warns about secrets, or blocks uploads before new code is published, a management service can handle the next steps: who changes the value, when they do it, and whether historical usage records are reviewed.

The UK’s Cyber Essentials programme bundles checklist implementation and third-party verification into a certification. Basic certification for the smallest organisations starts at about KRW 580,000 before VAT, while the higher level adds checks of actual devices and settings.

UK company Marl began running monthly internal checks and inspections of devices in use after certification. It also used the certification in sales when customers required it as a contract condition. This shows that turning a safety check from a technical report into proof of completion that can be shown to business customers may allow approval from operating-cost or contract-winning budgets.

Four things to build from this

1. Pre-launch approval certificate

  • What it does: Before a website goes live, it checks secret connection details, administrator screens exposed externally, and remaining test addresses, then creates a completion certificate.
  • Who uses it: Solo business operators and small operations teams that have built a booking or payment site for the first time with an AI building tool.
  • Why now: Building speed has increased, but more people have no developer or security specialist to make the final launch decision.
  • First screen: Include a website-address field, an owner-verification button, and options for payment, messaging, and data-storage functions.

2. Monthly safety check for business websites

  • What it does: Each month, it rechecks administrator-screen exposure, newly created test addresses, external-provider accounts that have not expired, and unresolved items from previous checks.
  • Who uses it: Salons, studios, and small academies that accept online bookings and advance payments but have no dedicated administrator.
  • Why now: A site may be safe when first published, but settings can change after features are added or external providers are replaced.
  • First screen: Show this month’s status, the last check date, items not yet changed, and a button to remind the responsible person.

3. Production-agency handover inspection

  • What it does: At the end of outsourced production, it checks whether administrator accounts, payment connection details, data storage, and operating permissions have properly transferred to the client.
  • Who uses it: Local businesses that commissioned a membership or booking site from an AI-using freelancer or small production agency.
  • Why now: A quickly built site may be live even though ownership of the source materials and important accounts has not been settled during handover.
  • First screen: Include the service address, the production-agency contract end date, a list of received accounts, and a “can operate without the agency” confirmation field.

4. Replacement guidance after exposure is found

  • What it does: When a problem is found, it manages the sequence of stopping existing connection details, replacing them with new values, reviewing usage records, and identifying whether customer notification is needed.
  • Who uses it: Small online-store operators who receive an unfamiliar usage alert from a payment or text-message provider.
  • Why now: Automated checks can flag risk, but new operators may not know which value to stop first or how far their review needs to go.
  • First screen: Let the operator choose whether the affected function is payment, messaging, or data storage, then show the sequence: “stop existing details,” “issue new details,” “review records,” and “recheck.”

What to check today

Spend 30 minutes looking at the screen with one operator who recently published a site using AI, and find only where payment, messaging, and data-storage connection details are stored. Do not ask to see the actual values. If they cannot explain the location and replacement method within 10 minutes, or if the same values appear in the building-tool chat and handover documents, test a pre-launch check or handover inspection first.

Why this matters where you are

AI tools can speed up website publishing in any market, but the people responsible for day-to-day operations may still lack a clear final safety check. Check whether local building tools, code repositories, or certification programmes only identify risks or also help operators complete replacement, access review, and rechecking. The agencies, certification rules, and prices will differ by market, but the operational gap described here can be tested with local site operators.
